How it works: Ever noticed that small slot on your laptop and wondered what it was for? On most laptop computers, there is a standard Security Slot on the right-hand side of the computer near the back. Some manufacturers place it on the left-hand side near the back, or at the rear of the computer. Many manufacturers also include the Security Slot on the docking station and may position it so that when the slot is in use, the laptop is locked to the station.
