Ultra-Violet (UV1a) Filters Have Two Main Uses:
To Help absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast given off by natural daylight.
As a general protection, that remains on the lens at all times, to stop dust and moisture from reaching the lens while providing additional protection in case of drops or where scratching could occur.

Circular Polarizing (C-PL) Filters Have One Important Use:
To remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and saturate colors providing better contrast.
Circular polarizing filters zero in on which light rays enter your cameras lens.
The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and the LCD screen and changed by rotating the filter.
The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun. Circular polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot.

Neutral Density (ND8) Filters Have Four Main Uses:
To enable slow shutter speeds, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds or vehicles.
To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background.
To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations.
To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or bright scenes.

Fluorescent (FLD) Filters One Main Use:
Removes the greenish tint given off by fluorescent lighting.

Multi-Threaded:
These filters can be stacked. The preferred order is to leave the UV filter on at all times
Then the other can be placed directly on top (eg. UV the CPL or UV then ND8.
These filters will not affect image quality
